A brief overview

Bank of Baroda, a leading banking institution in India, has a wide network of branches / offices across the country. Being a Public Sector Unit (PSU), the Bank has to make purchases for its offices/branches across the country through open tender process. For this purpose, the Bank regularly publishes the tenders on its website and also it has to periodically publish the Summary of Contracts on its website as per the Central Vigilance Committee (CVC) guidelines.

The Bank was facing several issues regarding management of the tenders & maintaining the database that was being generated. As per the earlier process, the webmaster received the tenders from the concerned branches / offices to be published on the website. The concerned branches/offices would then send reports on the status of each tender published from that region, which was then compiled and published on the website as Summary of Contracts. This was taking up a lot of time of the webmaster who also had other important tasks to look after apart from the website.

A sound overall system to provide the officers of Bank across the country with a user-friendly Online Tender Management System, design & development of a centralised database for maintaining the data related to all the published tenders and better functionality formed the core objectives of the new proposed website.
